#1 Social
Assistance Rates
Be
it resolved that the
Community Health Services (Saskatoon) Association demand that the
Saskatchewan government raise social assistance rates by $200 per month
and that this government index these rates to the cost-of-living to
adequately cover the costs of living, and provide for the costs of
shelter, utilities, food, transportation, medicines (prescription and
prescribed over-the-counter drugs) and special diets.

Resolution
#2 Poverty Reduction Strategy
Be
it resolved that the
Community Health Services (Saskatoon) Association demand that the
Saskatchewan government create a long-term integrated provincial
poverty reduction strategy that is developed and delivered through
collaboration with all Saskatchewan Departments, other levels of
government, community (including people living in poverty) and
community-based organizations.

Resolution
#3 Poverty Elimination Strategy
Therefore
be it resolved that the
Community Health Services (Saskatoon) Association urge the government of
Saskatchewan to redirect significant resources to support a community
based collaborative poverty elimination strategy in conjunction with
existing organizations, like co-operative community clinics who are
already working in there areas, to reduce health disparities and work to
eliminate the cause of health and social disparities - poverty. |
